KEN BLOCK'S GYMKHANA TWO PROJECT

gymkhana2

Riding on the success of the first Gymkhana Practice video that grabbed the attention of over 20 million viewers worldwide, DC and Ken Block are producing another gymkhana video. Operating under the project name “Gymkhana TWO,” the video has a target launch date of June 1, 2009. Leading up to the launch of the video, DC will release several teaser videos and behind the scenes photos, exclusive interviews, appearance information, upcoming event details and contests in a new blog section on its website – www.dcshoes.com/auto.

Block, who is a co-founder of DC leading the brand since 1994, is also a member of the DC Rally Team, and is currently working hard to develop the project. Details are still on lock, but the latest gymkhana video will feature a new location, new car, all new footage, and be filled with lots of surprises.

The first pre-release video highlights some of the details of Block’s new car. The 2008 Subaru STi was custom built by Crawford Performance to the unique specifications of Block. Created specifically for this new gymkhana video project, Crawford has custom built this new car to the unique driving conditions of gymkhana. The car features high-power performance modifications, tons of custom and unique parts, lots of carbon fiber, and has a custom graphics package and body mods for a unique and striking look.

Block got involved in gymkhana a few years ago as a way to get more time behind the wheel of rally-related race cars. In his original Gymkhana Practice video released last November, he took traditional gymkhana to the next level, adding buildings, barriers, and, perhaps most insane, donuts around a moving Segway.

“The first gymkhana video was a lot of fun to make and surprised everyone with its viral success,” said Block. “Although it will be tough to one up a guy on a moving Segway, I am going to do my best – I have a couple of surprises lined up. If everything goes as planned, the unique location and obstacles should be pretty amazing.”

As noted, the first of several pre-release videos is now live in a special DC web section at www.dcshoes.com/auto. It features sneak peek details of the new highly modified Subaru STi prepared especially for Block.

Stay tuned for more on this exciting project in the very near future.

NICK DOMPIERRE JOINS DC SHOES AND APPAREL

dompierre

APRIL 24, 2009 - Vista, CA - DC is proud to welcome professional skateboarder Nick Dompierre to its footwear and apparel team. It takes just one look at this month's cover of TransWorld SKATEboarding (June 2009) magazine to witness the raw talent Nick brings to the team.

"I'm excited to be a part of one of the most legendary skate companies of all time - on the same team as Danny, Colin, Kalis and everyone else; getting to shoot photos with Blabac - it's pretty amazing," said Nick. "Working with DC is giving some great opportunities, like building my first DC pro model shoe. I'm looking forward to a long future here."

At only 22 years old, Nick just landed on his fourth cover - having now appeared on the covers of Thrasher, Slap, The Skateboard Mag, and most recently (and arguably the heaviest) TransWorld SKATEboarding. Add that to his long list of additional accomplishments, including his 2006 nomination for TransWorld's Street Skater of the Year as an AM, and it's no wonder why skateboarders around the world are anticipating his latest video part in the upcoming Real Skateboards film.

"The dynamic that Nick's aggressive style brings to the DC team is an amazing addition to our roster. He's fast, raw and so talented," said Ken Block, DC Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer.

"We look forward to working with Nick." DC is excited to release to the world Nick's intro part featuring unseen and new footage today at http://www.dcskateboarding.tv.

INTRODUCING THE PJ LADD SIGNATURE SHOE

pjseq

After years of research and development, countless samples, and much delay to make the shoe 100-percent perfect, this week PJ Ladd and DC are proud to officially release his first DC signature shoe, the PJ S LX. Visit the custom minisite at dcshoes.com/pj to Step Inside the shoe and its creation, plus a look at a new PJ commercial.

Known as a perfectionist, PJ built a shoe to set a new benchmark for performance. With influences ranging from his hometown of Boston, to professional basketball athletes, to luxury automobiles and the rich leathers inside them, PJ created the finest signature DC shoe to date.

About his goals with his shoe, PJ said, "I designed this shoe to be the standard that every skateboarder talks about as the best pure skate shoe there is."

Through countless samples, PJ and the DC design team created a signature shoe with a very unique design language. Using performance as a base for design, the PJ S LX features DC's standard skate features plus a high-density molded foam collar for amazing heel hold, a lightweight midsole for support, and an ultra high quality full grain leather upper. It's also the first DC shoe to feature dual gel pods on the insole in addition to a 180 degree visible heel airbag, giving it an unparalleled level of comfort and protection.

The PJ S LX is available in two colors, rust and black, and is available only at select skate shops around the world.

WES KREMER, THE WELCOME! INTERVIEW!

wes

The newest addition to the DC amateur team is Wes Kremer. Though we know him pretty well now since he's been traveling and filming with the crew for about a year, you probably don't know him that well (yet). This week we present a full interview with him at skate.dcshoes.com, conducted a few days ago in San Diego. Follow this link to check out the interview and the many sequences mixed throughout it.

IT WENT DOWN: SILENT AUCTION, HIGH OLLIE CONTEST RAISES $9,000 FOR GRIND FOR LIFE

gflLast weekend, thanks to the support of The Skateboard Mag, DC, and a bunch of awesome ASR Trade Expo attendees, Grind for Life experienced a great weekend in San Diego. Nearly $9,000 was raised through the High Ollie Challenge and the Framed Photo Silent Auction, all in support of G.F.L. and its efforts that help people with cancer.

gfl2The GFL Chill Zone was up and running throughout ASR, and it was most packed during Friday afternoon's High Ollie Challenge. People bid silently on 30 beautiful pieces of skate photography from J.Grant Brittain, Dave Swift, Mike Blabac, Atiba Jefferson, Anthony Acosta, Matt Price and Ray Zimmerman (MRZ). They checked out mini-booths set up by Grind For Life supporters. They drank free beer. They listened to the DJ. They got their pictures snapped in the photo booth. And they watched the battle outside on the deck for the highest ollie... the bar went up up up until it reached 40", a height cleared only by Aldrin Garcia. For his efforts, DC hooked up $1,500 in cash money... not a bad take for an afternoon of jumping.

A huge thanks to everyone who helped make the Grind for Life festivities all weekend highly successful once again. Our friends at TransWorld SKATEboarding posted a pretty sweet little video on their site... go here to watch the High Ollie Challenge highlights.
